GOVERNMENT HOUSE.
HONGKONG. 20th April, 1920.
I regret to have to inform Your Lordship of
the death of Mr. W. J. Tutcher, Superintendent of the Botanical and Forestry Department in this Colony.
Mr. Tutcher, who was about to proceed on long leave after a period of service in the Colony, much pro- longed owing to the absence of Mr. H. Green the assistant, who was serving with His Majesty's Forces at the front, con- tracted pneumonia after a severe attack of influenza and although for some time his recovery was hoped for he unfor- tunately had a relapse and died on the 5th April. Mr.Tutcher was a valuable servant to the Government and his death is much regretted by all who knew him.
I did not inform you by telegraph as Mrs. Tutcher was in the Colony and had communicated with their relatives in England.
I shall address Your Lordship in a separate
despatch with regard to filling the vacancy caused,
I have the honour to be,
My Lord,
Your Lordship's most obedient,
humble servant,
B.C. Stubbs
